Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old sports reporter for Telemundo Kansas City, was found deceased in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, on February 5, 2025. He was in the area covering Super Bowl LIX. An autopsy revealed that Manzano died from the combined effects of alcohol and Xanax, leading to positional asphyxia. He did not have a prescription for Xanax.
Initial Arrest and Charges
Danette Colbert, 48, was the first suspect arrested in connection with Manzano’s death. Surveillance footage showed her entering Manzano’s hotel room with him and leaving alone about an hour later. She was later found in possession of Manzano’s credit card and cellphone. Colbert has been charged with second-degree murder, theft, and fraud.
Second Suspect Identified
Rickey White, 34, has now been charged with second-degree murder in the case. White was previously arrested in Florida on charges of robbery and fraud related to Manzano’s death and was extradited to Louisiana. Investigators believe that White conspired with Colbert in a scheme to drug and rob victims, including Manzano. Text messages between Colbert and White suggest a coordinated effort to incapacitate and steal from individuals.
